WHY TEFLON FLEXIBLE HOSE?
Teflon hose when reinforced with wire braid, offers a flexible hose construction which is unmatched by any other hose. There are only two classes of chemicals know to attack Teflon – the molten alkali metals such as sodium and potassium and the fluorochemicals such as chlorine trifluoride, oxygen difluoride and fluorine gas.
Teflon keeps its flexibility at low temperatures and its chemical structure and strength are unaffected by high fluid or ambient temperature. The hose is rated at – 100 Degrees F to + 500 degrees F (-73 degrees C to + 260 degrees C) continuous through the full pressure range. A particular strength is its ability to handle alternate 350 degree F and cold-water service.
Teflon has outstanding non-stick qualities. While tacky materials may show some adhesion almost all substances release easily. This “cleanability” means batch purity when using the same hose for handling different materials.
Low coefficient of friction yields low-pressure drop. Flow rates continue high for the life of the hose. Deposits don’t build up. The coefficient of friction of Teflon is generally in the range of 0.05 to 0.02.
Telfon is oleo phobic and hydrophobic. Teflon hose absorbs no moisture making it ideal for pneumatic systems where dew point must be kept low. Water absorption is less than 0.01% by A.S.T.M. test. Teflon imparts no taste or color to materials conveyed.
Teflon hose will stand up under severe conditions of the continuous flexing and vibration without failure from flexural fatigue. A variety of hose constructions are available to meet varying flex, impulse and pressure requirements.
The properties of Teflon hose do not change with age. Its “shelf – life is unlimited. It is dependable under all climatic conditions.
Construction
Smooth inner core of extruded Teflon TFE (polytetra – fluoroethylene) utilizing the most advance DuPont resins, offering the greatest resistance ever to temperature cycling problems and kinking. HF 115 hose has a natural white PTFE inner core: HF 101 hose has a precisely controlled amount of carbon black added to inner 15% of the inner core wall to provide a relatively low resistance path of electrostatic charges to the metal end fittings
Wire braid reinforcement is Type 304 stainless steel. Two layers of braid is designated by the letter “T”.
